Our History
In 1965, the Inter-Faith Group began as a single organization: the Houston Inter-Faith Housing Corporation. Founded by nine visionary individuals, this alliance was built not only on shared faith, but on a deep well of trust, hope, and compassion for humanity.
Together, this dedicated group formed the Inter-Faith Housing Committee, immediately establishing Inter-Faith Housing as a nonprofit organization and a heart-centered think tank. Their mission was clear: to provide affordable housing, nutritious food, and supportive services to Houston’s low-income seniors.
Over time, that mission grew. Today, we proudly serve both seniors and families, expanding our reach while staying true to our founders’ original purpose strengthening communities through care, dignity, and opportunity.
